I have taken a stab at turkey hunting this spring. My tag is not until the end of May, but I have taken my nephew out for the youth hunt and my gone with my wife the past few days. We had some toms around us and some hens move through with my nephew but no shots were fired. On my wifes hunts, we had some neat action. On Day 1, we had a tom working around us. He wouldn't come in to the decoys but was all around us. Until a jake came in. At that point he ran in, chased the jake off and was gone. All of this happened so fast that there was no time for a good shot. Day 2 provided 1 hen coming in and the toms weren't talking. Day 3 was fun. 3 toms were gobbling right at daylight. They were moving in the woods off the edge of the field we were on for about an hour. Then one appeared on the field. He was running with 8 jakes. It was really neat to see all those birds. They worked our way. I am a newbie to turkey hunting. I found a gobbler call and a hen call worked together got this tom to move in our direction fast....

Well, I know its been a while since I have updated my blog. Its amazing how life gets in the way of the important things :-) I have been on the ice probably 10 nights for walleyes and have picked up a few. I was unable to get my Predator leaders until after Christmas and have not been out to try them yet.For the past four days I have been in Alabama, taking part in a once in a lifetime experience. I was the winner of the Alabama Down Home Sweepstakes at buckmasters.com. What this means is Jackie Bushman himself called me on November 30 to let me know they wanted to fly me to AL to film a hunt with him to be used on Buckmasters Television. Of course I agreed to that so the hunt has taken place. In addition I was given a Remington rifle, Scent-Lok clothes, and LaCrosse boots. The experience was unbelievable to say the least. Jackie himself is a great person. No arrogance whatsoever, as some celebrities can have. The whole crew works their tail off to get the jobs done. We hunted a 2500 acre lease...

Well since my last post I have been on a archery moose hunt in Ontario. The warm weather this fall has delayed the rut, making it tough for archery hunters. The invitation for this trip was last minute by my father in law, so fishing sort of went to the back burner for me this fall. Hopefully I can get out and do some musky fishing this weekend. I really want to see how the Teaser Leaders perform for the fatties. my thoughts are also turning to first ice. I really think the Teaser Leaders are going to put some nice fish on the ice. I may even fish a few more tournaments this winter if that is the case. Its a great time of the year for all outdoors people. We only wish October was a month longer! Get out there and do it.
Bart
PS: My wife got out there and shot a 10 pt buck with her bow this fall already.

Sorry for the delay in posting a new blog. I have been doing some work around the house and it has seriously limited my time in the boat. I did get out a few nights and had some exciting musky action using a Trophy Teaser. I was reeling in a bucktail and felt a small tap and then no resistance. I reeled real fast as I suspected the fish was swimming at me. Pretty soon the fish was on the surface with my lure in its mouth. I gave it a good hookset but pulled the lure out of its mouth without any hooks penetrating. It was a nice musky pushing 40". I have gotten some inside info of some tweaking being done to the Trophy's. Next trip out I am going to try it and report back to the success!

Hello World,My name is Bart Tegen and I call Rhinelander, WI home. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a blogger on monsterfishgear.com. I primarily fish for musky in the summer, so look forward to some exciting entries on this elusive giant. Beside musky, I love to fish walleye and panfish from the boat, as well as spending time on the ice during those long winter months up here in the great Northwoods. I am really excited about the products that are available through this site and look forward to keeping this blog current on what is happening out on the water (or ice!). I have only been able to hit the water once since I got my Teaser Leaders and Little Teasers. Although I didn’t see any musky that night, the Teaser Leaders were exactly how they are explained, amazing. I think the concept behind them is great and look forward to putting some fish in the net with them. Work has been hectic lately, really taking away from my on-water time, but that is going to change tomorrow morning. I am going...
